Family Friend

Rodriguez Residential Care has provided exemplary services to my cousin for the past 20 years. They were recommended to me by the VA hospital where my cousin receives his care. My cousin has a clean, safe room in a welcoming and warm environment. The stability and comfort provided by Rodriguez goes beyond what we experienced in any other group home.

Cynthia feels more like a family member than a caregiver to us. She demonstrates daily that she cares about my cousin and his health/happiness. She provides healthy, nutritious meals and reasonable group home rules, both of which contribute to his mental and physical well-being. She alerts me if she senses there are issues to consider, and has even accompanied my cousin to medical appointments when I could not be there.

My cousin considers her a friend, and I do too: she is firm, but warm and loving. In fact, it was Cynthia we turned to when my cousin lost his mother several years ago. We knew this loss would be devastating to him and it was clear to us (and to Cynthia) that she was the right person to tell him the sad news. We are very grateful that he is living in this wonderful environment.

Dear Cynthia,

I wanted to tell you what a good time B. had at the big birthday party W. had for me.

B. mingled with the people and was very comfortable with the big crowd.  It was something he could never have done a few years ago.  I attribute his progress to the wonderful, supportive and stable environment that you are providing.  He even remarked to me that he thought it “The best party he had ever been to.”

Thanks to you and family for all you have done for B.

Warm Regards,

Marilyn P.

I approached Rodriguez Residential Care as a recommendation by the Department of San Diego Social Services. Cynthia Rodriguez helped us by accepting our son after he came from a one year hospital stay and helped with smoothing the transition. Also, their experience helped with our confidence in our decisions. Cynthia made us feel comfortable with our sons new living arrangements so we could sleep at night. Cynthia has been supportive of our son giving him encouragement during his day to day living. She has offered extra help when needed and is a great resource for what is available within the Mental Health Community and the Services available. If a problem arises she keeps us informed and takes it head on. Rodriguez Residential Care is the right place for our son for his condition. The communication has been excellent.

I approached Rodriguez Residential Care because: We were in need of quality housing for my adult son. Rodriguez Residential Care provides a home atmosphere where the residents live respectfully together, share common areas, eat and relax together, and abide by rules so that the house is neat, organized and a safe space.

Cynthia Rodriguez helped me by truly caring about my son. She and her team cook healthy, homemade meals, dispenses and monitors medication, and takes a genuine interest in my son’s mental and physical health. She was responsible for getting medical attention where required. She treats all of the residents respectfully and earns their cooperation and pride in living in such a beautiful and well-maintained home.

Cynthia Rodriguez made me feel  supported, cared about and empowered. She is generous with her time and has extensive experience in the areas of mental health. She provides suggestions and input on programs that are effective. She also goes the extra step by helping residents meet their commitments and appointments.

Rodriguez Residential Care provided my son with a safe living environment, supportive staff, Mental health resources etc., and a positive environment that respects the individual and helps residents live an independent life and in a home of which they are proud.

It is a comfort knowing that our son is living independent and experiencing the best that residential care has to offer.

I am most grateful for: The understanding, care, and devotion of Cynthia, in particular.

My brother thrived under the care and oversight of Cynthia Rodriguez and the team at Rodriguez Residential Care. Cynthia has such a depth of experience working with people with mental illness, and her passion for her work shows in the thoughtfulness and care with which she operates the residential care homes. In the five years that he lived there, our family was confident that he was in a place that he could feel safe, secure, and his well-being genuinely cared for. It was a place that he could begin to build the life he wanted. He is now happily living independently, and credits his time at Rodriguez Residential Care with giving him the foundation necessary to rebuild his level of social functioning and confidence needed to live on his own. We can’t recommend Cynthia Rodriguez’s Residential Care more highly.

-       Sister of a former resident

I approached Rodriguez Residential Care because I had researched many facilities and Rodriguez Residential Care was far above the others in cleanliness and the support they provided the residents. Cynthia helped me by keeping me advised of my son’s progress and ups and downs. We feel comfortable knowing that Cynthia will keep us advised of any issues with my son.

The home is very family friendly, and they provide support in medication supervision, meals, laundry, cleaning and reminders to the residents to care for their personal hygiene. They provide a secure and supervised residence for my son who could no longer live with us and failed at independent living.

My son has had mental health issues for twenty-five years. He lived at home, tried independent living, institution living and several different Board and Care facilities. He has lived in Rodriguez Residential Care on and off for about 14 of those years. Cynthia has always welcomed back after an absence and given me comfort knowing he would be looked after.
